... It's all about the puffy white jacket
Two more sleeps! And... I figured out how to use the button maker at the church. Whoo! That's the craft for Sunday morning--making buttons (you know, the kind with the plastic top and the pin back) with the preschool kids. Right. One button through the machine at a time. I figured I'd better know how to work it now, rather than trying to figure it out on Sunday morning with who knows how many preschool kids clamoring for attention. And I thought I was just teaching, but it turns out I'm the only one on on Sunday morning--Debbie, Marva, Nadine, Helen, and Wendy are all away, so it's all me...

I love how I'm still part of this staff, even though I don't *technically* work here anymore. Teehee. Maybe I'll do daycamps again this summer. That would be fun. But we'll see.

So, last night at Lana's party... Laura, Ruth, and I were getting ready to leave, and we were grabbing our jackets out of the office where they'd been stashed. Jeff (Lana's brother) asked if we were getting our jackets okay, and we made a joke about shopping for the nicest ones. I said that I would take Katelyn's, because we're always teasing her about her nice leather jacket.

Laura's eyes lit up, and, of course, she urged me to do it. So, I took Katelyn's jacket and left mine for her, completely expecting to get a phone call an hour or so later when she left the party. I still haven't heard from her.

I know I'll see her tomorrow, so we can exchange back then... unless, of course, she's planning some sort of evil revenge on me. I guess I'll find out later...

One year ago today: I remember Saturday Nite Cafe, that second year, with every week being full of pranks, good talks, jokes, teasing, wet towel wars, water fights in the kitchen, avoiding work... all kinds of things like that. The three of us don't spend as much time together anymore, and our relationships with each other have changed in such drastic ways from that first year, four years ago, but every once in a while, I get a little taste of the 14-, 15-, and 16-year-olds that we were way back then. Seems crazy to think that it's been so long, that we've grown up so much, but it's cool that there's always some sort of a bond there, no matter how hidden it ever gets with all kinds of other crap that goes on.
