The show is kind of half recital, half show--the two actors are phenomenally talented pianists as well, and the music tells the story just as much as the lines do. They intersperse the story with piano duets and solos, and you see the characters' progression through a lifetime in piano within the music that they're playing. And for someone with so many years of RCM lessons behind her, it was hilarious. I even recognized some pieces that I'd played--mostly grade 9 and 10 pieces, but still... there they were.
(P.S.: a review, and the show's official site, just in case you were interested...)
I'm thinking of getting ATP season's tickets again next year. I had them a couple of years ago, and it was such a good investment... I try to see about one show a month, and the ATP tickets made that more structured, and also guaranteed that I had tickets, even if I didn't have any extra money lying around. I do enjoy going to (and supporting) community theatre as much as possible, but it's always nice to spice up my theatre-going diet. It would be fun, I was thinking, to get 2 season's tickets--the second one not for anyone in particular; just for whomever I thought would enjoy a certain show. We'll see. There's so much that I want to see, and so many shows that I always want to go to, and it's tough to fit them all in sometimes. Or to afford it, for that matter, but there are always ways around that.
Anyways, I should get to bed. Tomorrow's a long day. And I need to dream of piano lessons and all those hours I spent tortured (and loving it) at the piano bench...
P.P.S. Didn't I just talk about something related to this? Ah, synchronicity.
