Tues, Oct. 14
... The comedy is that it's serious
Well, happy Day After Thanksgiving!

And after I took the long weekend "off" of doing work (homework, specifically), I'm feeling it now, and needing to get my butt in gear and get something done.

Oy. I want reading week! Although in the first semester, we only get "reading days"--we get Friday through Tuesday off. And one of those days is a stat holiday! What kind of ripoff is that?! Ah well. Next semester we get a full week (and hopefully I'll be able to spend at least part of it in Ontario with Jen). Yesterday was a holiday, so I didn't feel guilty about sleeping in and being somewhat lazy. And I worked. I got a good turkey dinner, and I had to do dishes to earn it!

I have new competition in the olive-eating world. See, in my family, the big joke is always about the black olives. I love them; my sister loves them; my aunt and uncle both love them, and we "fight" over them every year. This year, my sister and my aunt weren't there, so I was joking about having no competition for them, when Zack, my 6-year-old cousin, pipes up, "I love black olives!!" And thus the competition began.

We staked out seats at the dinner table right beside the olive and pickle dish, and we snitched a few before dinner. During dinner itself, we were both very good, and we only took a few, but after everyone had finished eating, we took the plate and started stuffing the olives in our mouths as fast as we could, each trying to get more in than the other. You should have seen the look on his face!! It was absolutely priceless. He's the most impish little kid you'll ever meet, and he was determined to beat me to those olives.

My mom really needs to start buying more than just one can for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Heh.

One year ago today: Last night, Kat and I decided--at around 12:45--that we were too restless to go to bed, and that we needed some chocolate milk from 7-11. So, into the car we got, on what was supposed to be a 5-minute trip. We ended up driving around the city for an hour and a half and talking, before we finally got home sometime after 2. It was great. Gotta love late-night talks about boys, life, and everything in between. Especially when you're just driving, and you know you can't cut the conversation short and go to bed until you get home.
