See, theatre techs are different from normal techs. There's just something about them that... I don't even know how to describe it. They are a unique brand of person. And I'm not talking about actors who do tech, or directors who end up doing tech, or the people who can do a little bit of everything. I'm talking about the tried-and-true, dyed-in-the-wool (how many other cliches can I pull out?) theatre technicians (mostly light and sound techs) who would never set foot on the stage.
Anyways, this guy just graduated with his degree from UConn, and we got into a conversation about theatre during the 45-minute lineup into the museum, and by the time we got there, I was glad that I could spend the rest of my day away from him.
Not that he was a bad guy; he wasn't. He just fit all the stereotypes, and that made him, to me, kind of funny. I had to laugh once he was gone.
It made for an interesting hour, though, so I guess that's a plus.
Anyways, tonight we leave Rome, and we're heading for Nice--3 nights, 4 days in the area, including day trips to Monaco and Cannes. I can't believe we're already 1/2-way though the 4 weeks before Mom and Dad and Carl come over here. And I'm down to a minute, so I'm off.
One year ago toady: Hmmm. It's nice to be getting out of the house a little bit more for the past few days. I feel like I'm doing something with myself. And this week, I've got to get all of my projects finished and get the house clean, so that'll keep me busy. My mom's sister, Beth, is coming into town next weekend for my sister's grad open house, and everyone's coming over to my house for dinner on Friday. So that means that I actually have to/get to cook a real meal, not just my quick microwave stuff that I usually make for myself. It'll be good--I haven't seen Beth since I graduated, so it'll be nice to see her.
