... Let me think about it for a minute
"Don't rationalize, just do." That's what Lynsae emailed me today about going to visit her, spur of the moment, for the night. "Don't think, just do." "Take responsibility for your own actions." "Take the initiative sometimes!" So I'm not rationalizing, I'm not debating, I'm just doing. I'm packing up a backpack and driving 3 hours to go bowling and hang out with my best friend, whom I haven't seen in 2 weeks. Pretty long to not see someone you're used to living with.

When does "just doing" start to get me into trouble, though? Eventually, it will... eventually there comes a time when all the spontanaeity in the world will backfire and it's time to just sit down and think everything through. But all the thinking has to come to a decision eventually. Sometimes it's better just to think a little bit and then go on first instinct, rather than weigh out the pros and cons and try to persuade yourself to do one thing or the other. Which leads me to remembering a few other "matt-isms": "What do you want, right now?" "What are you thinking right now?" "Don't think about it, just answer." "Stop trying to convince yourself." "Yes, you know what you want. Just say it!"

And as I'm sitting here debating the pros and cons of being spontaneous, my time is ticking away, and it's nearly time to go back to my house, pick up some stuff, and head out for the night. So, ciao, good night, sweet dreams, and I'll talk to all of you later!
