... Four years old, and she knows what?
Yesterday, I was talking to four-year-old Paige (Marva's daughter) after daycamps. She's a very precocious child; my mom says she reminds her a lot of me when I was that age. Strong-willed, stubborn, somewhat bossy, fairly mature for her age... you know, the works.

"I have a Canada flag," she said.

"That's cool. So do I. I have a big one on my wall," I answered.

"Why?"

"Because I like being a Canadian."

"Oh. So do I."

*pause*

"Does Canada have wars?"

What do I answer to that?

"Yes, Paige, sometimes they do."

"Oh. Why does Canada have wars?"

"Because they want to stop the bad people in other countries."

"Does Canada always win the wars?"

"Well, not always. Sometimes other countries win."

"Well, does everyone take turns winning?"

"Not really. Canada usually fights with other countries, kind of like a big team, and sometimes Canada's teams win, and so does everyone else on the team."

"Oh. Okay."
