... Open letter to "my" boys
God has blessed our youth group so immensely. We have got the most amazingly godly guys who are so passionate about seeking after him, all the way from the grade 10 guys like Sean, Jason, Justin, Mike... all the way up through the college guys--Barry, Daryl, Kirk, Steve... The girls are blessed to have these guys as friends. Not even as boyfriends necessarily, but as godly friends, who push each other to be more pure and holy, and who treat us with dignity and respect. I have great admiration for a guy who does that. Huge. And they're learning young. The younger guys have great role models, and they're becoming role models themselves. New guys don't stand a chance! :o) The girls are learning how they should be treated, and how real men of God can be, and they're learning to set their standards high. The guys are following God and letting him mold them into the spiritual leaders that he wants them to be.
Sean, Jason, Justin; I'm so proud of you. I pray that you keep growing in God's ways; keep following hard after him. Daryl (all three of you!), Barry, Kirk, Steve, Jason (however many of you there are...), Mike (both of you...), Edwin, Noah, Josh, Jordan, Tim, Preston, and any of the rest that I've momentarily forgotten... Thank you. For being the men of God that you are. We are blessed to call you brothers. I love the way that new guys can come into the group, and you immediately accept them, and you don't change who you are, you challenge them to change who they are. That's a true role model. You're not perfect, I know that, but you don't claim to be. Each of you admits your mistakes and failures and moves on from there to let God keep molding you and shaping you into his warriors. Don't ever lose that! Each one of you will make some woman very blessed someday. Keep letting God mold you into the men, and eventually the husbands and fathers, that he wants you to be. Thank you on behalf of the girls.
