... Coffee, anyone?
It's all about bonding. Seriously. Yesterday, Tristan commented that the campout is all about the kids fighting and the leaders bonding. The kids didn't fight as bad this year as last year, but they still were going at it. The boys, mostly. We had good girls this week--quiet girls, which was a blessing during the 3 hour van rides.

I love the camp, though. The Outdoor Pursuits week is probably my favorite. And Tristan, Nadine, Gail, Sam, and I had a blast this week, which is always good. It's more fun when you've got good leaders to hang out with.

So yesterday, we decided that we needed coffee for the morning, but no one had any. So... when we were at West Ed, Nadine and I picked up a can of the Nescafe mix to make this morning at the camp. However, we didn't have a pot or anything to heat the water in, so Tristan bought a bottle of Sobe so we could use the bottle. It worked relatively well. We had fairly warm coffee this morning, and we definitely provided the morning's entertainment for Sam and the kids. He thought we were nuts, but hey... that's our perogative! :o) Besides, it makes for a good story. And that's what it's all about, isn't it? I mean, can you beat a story about Nadine punting me in the face? Which she did, incidentally. Not on purpose, but we just about peed ourselves laughing. Maybe it wasn't that funny, but it was late at night, we were tired, and we were making inside jokes away from the kids.

Okay, that's not what it's all about, but it's definitely a side benefit of working camps. We do definitely have fun together. They make me feel old, but that's okay.

And besides that, I saw my high school math teacher at a wedding today. That was weird... I saw him across the room during the reception, and did a double take. It took me a few minutes to recognize him. Fortunately, I always got along with my teachers. I just said hi, told him what I'm up to, and then moved on. The groom's family used to live in Strathmore. He went to SHS for at least a while--I'm not sure if he graduated from there--and he was on the volleyball team. The math teacher was the volleyball coach, so it just makes sense. Okay. That was my excitement for the day.
