... In which I become slightly patriotic

Happy Canada Day! Or, if you prefer, Happy Dominion Day! I rather like the old one--it's based on a verse from somewhere (Psalms, I think) that says, "And He shall have dominion from sea to sea." Kind of a cool premise for a country to be built on, hey? But, of course, that's not "politically correct" anymore, because heaven forbid that we should insult someone by *gasp* quoting the Bible!!!!! Horrors!! Good grief. When did our ideas about right and wrong; offensive and not offensive become so warped and twisted. When did it become offensive to quote from the source of Ultimate Truth?

So much for my patriotic attitude :o) I love Canada, I really do. I'm so blessed to live where I do, but sometimes I wonder about us. "Us" being a nation, "us" being North Americans, "us" being people in this "modern, enlightened" world. Since when does enlightenment mean ignoring right and wrong and doing whatever we want, without thinking of the consequences? I've done enough of that, and it just leads to more heartache and pain than it's worth. Why can't any of us just realize that the rules aren't to stifle us and keep us under lock and key, but they're to free us in a more real sense than we've ever known before?

But, right; patriotism. The dominion. Not England's dominion, or France's, or anyone else who fought over us. God's dominion. What a great way to live... what a great place to live. "And He shall have dominion from sea to sea." Happy Canada Day. God bless.
