... Time warp
It's always such a time warp to see her again. I had such an amazingly fun time with Lyns last night, just hanging out, doing nothing important but talking, catching up on all the life since we last saw each other. It always feels, in a way, like nothing's changed, like we're just who we were before and our relationship is exactly the same, but it's not, and I can never figure it out. In some ways, it seems weird that she has pictures of Shannon, Jen, Aarika, Chris... everyone from school... up on her walls. Like I should be saying, "You know them too? What a coincidence!" Even the stuff in her room is half right, half wrong. It should be in our room, but somehow, it fits in her room. It's a strange paradox that I don't think I'll ever be able to figure out.

I can't wait till the first day of school. It'll be so great to see everyone: hugging, laughing, "how are you? you look great," "I missed you," maybe some crying, "how was your summer?" It'll be a great reunion. But, thanks to all the people who just take the Edge and then go somewhere else (my beloved Lynsae included in that number...), it won't be quite everyone. All the "groups" will be missing someone, or a few people; some of the groups won't even be there anymore. The freshmen will be standing around slightly awkwardly, but realizing that they do know people from church, or camp, or any number of other activities. And soon they'll make their own groups, be integrated into the existing ones, and everything will be different than it was last year. But that's the way life goes, I guess. I am excited for the first day of school, though. It'll be fun.

And it'll also be fun to get to see Lyns 3 times in the next 3 weeks! Oh, the fun of having my truck... :o)
