... Think about it over and over again
Well. Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. And, just like last year, I don't have plans yet.

There are a few options--my roommates are having a fondue party at our house, which I am (of course) more than welcome to be at; apparently Laura is getting some people together for a formal dinner at Dennys... but I don't know details on that yet, so I should find out before I make a decision, hey?

However, unlike last year, I don't have to work. I did kind of like last year's events, though--Chris, Logan, and I sat around in our pyjamas, eating pizza, watching Simpsons and various movies. And then we went to Banff on New Year's Day. Which I may, depending on the weather, do again this year.

I was sad to hear that Jerry Orbach died... he's another one of those old-school actors who was so versatile and talented. It seems like today's "stars" tend to be more "stars" than "actors." There's a big difference, you know. There are the people who are Hollywood, and who are there for the fame and money and glamour, and then there are those who are there for the art, and who are truly trained and excellent at what they do--those who, like Jerry Orbach, excel in movies, on TV, and on Broadway, helping to create some of the most well-known and classic roles.

Sadly, it seems like the former category far eclipses the latter in today's society. There just aren't the talented artists coming out today that there used to be. Most of the new faces are just that--faces. And bodies. And the ability to memorize a few lines.

I dunno... maybe they'll grow into it. Maybe some of these young stars will grow into their talent, get some training, realize their versatility, and expand beyond where they are now. Maybe it's just impossible for a 25-year-old in Hollywood to be a truly excellent, versatile, experienced actor. Talented, yes, but that only goes so far, and then commitment, training, and lots of hard work have to take over.

But who knows. Maybe 50 years from now, this generation's Jerry Orbach will come from the most unlikely places.

Anyways. I'm going Ikea shopping with my mom and sister, because those gift cards we got are burning holes in our pockets! Plus, there's a big sale going on, so who wouldn't want to take advantage of it?!
