Sun, Nov. 30
... Turned up nose, turned down hose
Today was the first Sunday of Advent. That's always the real start of the Christmas season, for me. 3 1/2 weeks until Christmas. How scary and cool is that?

You know, for as much as Christmas is an up and down season for me, it's still my favorite time of year. There are years when I just feel like I've lost the magic, and Christmas doesn't have the same feeling that it did when I was a kid, and there have been years when I was in the middle of so much other stuff that I just can't get around to having the Christmas spirit, but it's still there. There's still something peaceful and quiet, even if I'm busy.

I love the rush of Christmas, and I love the feeling of everyone looking for the perfect thing for the perfect people. A lot of people don't like the commercialism, and that's not what I'm saying that I love, but I love the community that comes with it. I love the sense of "us" that comes with Christmas.

I love the fact that I can't put it into words, and I try to come up with some way to describe the feeling, but I just can't.

On another note...

I put pink sponge rollers in my hair last night. We were watching SNL, and Janna put my hair up in curlers! I'm working on a hairstyle for a character, and I wanted to play with what I had to work with. I haven't worn sponge rollers since I was really little, but my mom used to put my hair up every Saturday night, so that I'd have curly hair for church on Sunday morning.

So, I had curly hair for church this morning.

One year ago today: Next Saturday is the Testament party--finally! We were planning to have it around Labor Day, and it just kept getting pushed further and further back, so now we're finally having on the last weekend of the semester, instead of the first. I'm excited to watch all 3 hours of video footage of the trip again. It'll be good to laugh about it and relive all the stories again with the people who were there and remember it.
