1. What was the first band you saw in concert? Newsboys, I think. Opened by Petra, which we found incredibly ironic, because Petra had been around for so much longer than the Newsboys had.
2. Who is your favorite artist/band now? Oh goodness... far too many. I'm really liking Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton, Norah Jones (whose cd I had long before the Grammys), Josh Groban, Barenaked Ladies, Matchbox 20... how's that for eclectic tastes?
3. What's your favorite song? Anything from Joseph. Teehee. No really... I really like "Close Every Door" from Joe, although it's not my favorite song ever. It's one of my favorites from the show, though. Anyways. For real. "Walking in Memphis," "Picture," "The Prayer," "When I'm Gone"... there are so many. I can't narrow it down to just one. Or even just a few.
4. If you could play any instrument, what would it be? I would love to be able to play the piano like Brendan Waters does. He's a guy I've known since high school, and he's one of the most talented musicians I know. He can play the piano like no one (except perhaps his father). He has perfect pitch, plays by ear beautifully, plays classically, is a brilliant jazz musician... And he plays about 5 other instruments. The kid is beyond talented--I'd love to have his talent.
5. If you could meet any musical icon (past or present), who would it be and why? Hmmm... probably Michael W. Smith, because his music influenced me so much when I was in junior high. I was really touched and encouraged in my life and my walk with God when I listened to that music. There have been a lot of other music that's influenced me artistically and personally since then, but that was some of the stuff that got me through some of the toughest times, and I'd love to thank him.
And I think that's that. I think it's time for me to get some sleep.
