... It's all the same with all the news
So. Grad pictures today. It doesn't seem like all that long ago that I got my high school grad pics done, but it's been three years, and here I am again. I don't know if I want to graduate. But, I guess I'll get them done, and if I happen to finish my degree and graduate a third time, I'll get more done, I guess. It is fun, though. I'm hoping I can get some good poses--particularly some good casual poses.

Anyways, I'll try to recreate my entry from last night that the computer ate. Let's see. Laurel and I spent the afternoon designing the posters for "Our Town" and buying most of the rest of the costumes that we needed at Value Village. It feels good to have that underneath our belts.

I had very interesting exercises in both Movement and Acting yesterday morning... in Movement, Tracey had us develop three poses to physicalize three different wounds that we'd received over the years. We played with those freezes and the movements between them for a while, and then we started to walk like a character who was living in a perpetual state of suffering over those wounds. It was a very interesting way of physicalizing something so internal.

My character had elements in it of all three of those poses, but the character became nothing like me, even though it was based around my wounds. It was a very distinctive physicalization, though. I carried all my weight in my hips; I lead with my toes, and had a very delicate, almost tip-toe, ballet-like walk; my head was up; and my torso was very folded in on itself. It actually hurt to walk like that for long, but it was such a good exercise.

I got some good ideas with the poses, though. I'm not a photographer, but I enjoy playing around with it, and I'd like to get someone to model for me so that I can play with the poses in photos, not just as movement. I think that they would be a very cool and powerful collage or something like that. They mean very specific things to me, but they would be the kind of poses that could mean something different to almost anybody.

Anyways, enough technical blabber about my classes. I've got to finish getting ready, and then get out of here. Later!

One year ago today: I got another odd google hit on my quotes page:

"Alida's butt OR bottom OR ass OR fanny OR arse"

Why does that disturb me just a little bit? People are weird.
