... Becoming who we are
I changed my mind about my favorite picture if myself. At least, my favorite current picture.

There's this picture in our living room of Kat and I last summer, the day we went to Banff for a "girls' day." The picture is of just our faces, and it's not even a very good picture of me, but it was so fun... so carefree. We're both wearing candy necklaces, from the most amazing candy store in the world, and we're both laughing. The sky is blue, there's a big tree behind us, and it was one of those perfect summer days.

I remember driving out to Banff in my truck, talking about anything and everything we could possibly talk about--boys, school, moving in together, parents, jobs... everything. We spent the day walking around, looking at everything we'd seen a thousand times while we were growing up, sitting by the river, sitting in the hot springs...

I have a lot of good memories of last summer. It wasn't perfect, but it was the summer when Kat and I became closer friends than we'd ever been, when we hung out all the time, when we moved in together, when life seemed to be in between seasons. We were at a place where old things were ending, and we were looking forward to the new things beginning.

This summer's not going to be exactly like that, but then again, what day is ever exactly like the one before? None. This summer's going to be great in its own way.

But I love that picture. That's us.... becoming who we are.
